AAAL Announces Winner of the 2027 DSERG Award: Elif Varlik

Elif Varlik is a Ph.D. student in Linguistics with a concentration in Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research explores teacher education, Literacy Education and Second Language Learning for Adults (LESLLA), refugee education, and technology-enhanced language learning, with a particular focus on equitable and inclusive language teaching practices. Beyond her research, Elif is committed to community engagement through her volunteer work with Afghan refugee women in the Urbana-Champaign area, where she supports adult English language and literacy development.
