Theme:

Although minority languages are less and less transmitted and spoken, they may never have been so visible in public space, tourism, brands, signage and the cultural industries. This international conference sets out to examine this paradox through the concept of "exodiglossia", which describes the situation of a language whose symbolic display is maintained or even grows while its social uses and transmission decline.

Taking Corsica as its starting point, but from a broadly comparative perspective, the conference welcomes contributions on linguistic landscapes, the commodification and heritagization of languages, the staging of authenticity, cultural tourism, language economies, and the evaluation of language policies and language vitality. It is open to minority, minoritized and Indigenous languages of Europe, the Mediterranean and beyond, and aims to foster dialogue between sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, sociology, heritage studies, language law and the economics of language.

- Conference dates: 4–5 March 2027

- Venue: Università di Corsica, Corti (Corsica, France)

- Submission deadline: 30 November 2026
