Second and Foreign Language Pedagogy (PED)

This strand focuses on theories and practices related to teaching second or foreign languages to students of all ages, in the wide range of cultural, political, and geographical contexts in which instruction may take place. Central topics include instructional approaches, curricula development and pedagogical activities, teacher/student and student/student interaction, and perceptions and practices of native versus non-native teachers, among other topics. Note: work focusing on “language and ideology”, “language and technology”, “phonetics, phonology, and oral communication,” “teacher education, beliefs and priorities,” “vocabulary and lexical studies” and “reading, writing and literacy” are encouraged to apply to those strands.
