Second and Foreign Language Pedagogy (PED)

This strand focuses on theories and practices related to teaching second or foreign languages to students of all ages, in the range of cultural, political, and geographical contexts in in which instruction may take place. Possible topics include (but are not limited to) learner beliefs, perceptions, and agency in classroom practice, the role of students’ known languages in the classroom (e.g., translanguaging, cross-linguistic comparisons, cultural translation), perceptions and practices of native versus non-native teachers, and teacher/student and student/student interaction. Proposals may also report research examining specific teaching orientations and techniques, as well as critical evaluations of curriculum, syllabus, activity and task design.
