Language Maintenance and Revitalization (LMR)

This strand examines the psycholinguistic, interactional, sociolinguistic and/or policy processes and mechanisms that drive minority language maintenance or revitalization. Central concerns include (but are not limited to): critical analyses of efforts to support Indigenous or endangered languages; examination of pedagogical approaches directed at sustaining multilingualism; and analysis of second/additional language learning of endangered or minority languages. Of interest are empirically and theoretically informed investigations from a wide range of formal or non-formal contexts (e.g., home, community, educational, online), utilizing qualitative, quantitative, mixed or combined research methodologies.
