We are excited to announce the addition of the AAAL Guidelines for Publishing in Applied Linguistics as a new member benefit. This continues our commitment to articulating best practices in our profession, which we began last year with our Promotion and Tenure Guidelines. The publishing guidelines were created by a member taskforce that comprised a broad spectrum of our AAAL community including current journal and book editors. We would like to thank the following taskforce members for their important service: Laura Collins (Chair), Concordia University; Walcir Cardoso, Concordia University; Johanna Ennser-Kananen, Boston University; Rosa Manchón, University of Murcia; Lourdes Ortega, Georgetown University; and Kimberly Vinall, University of California, Berkeley. We would additionally like to thank Heidi Byrnes for her invaluable input. The guidelines address the complete process from developing a written manuscript to its final publication. They will also be reviewed every five years in light of the evolving nature of the publication process in our field. We hope these guidelines will be a valuable resource to all our members, and we particularly recommend them to graduate students and junior scholars. The guidelines can be found on the RESOURCES tab of our website at
