Share |

This strand features research that extends cognitive, linguistic and social understandings of how languages are acquired and undergo attrition. On a theoretical level, presentations may be guided by a range of approaches to language acquisition and attrition which include generative, functional, input processing, usage based, functional, skill acquisition, neurobiologically motivated, processability, input, interaction and output, complexity, sociocultural, conversation analytic, identity, language socialization, and sociocognitive theories. Presenters will draw on quantitative, qualitative and/or mixed methodologies as applied to instructed, naturalistic, and experimental research settings.
