Culture fairs have been identified as problematic for their tendency to essentialize, exoticize, and tokenize cultural content and limit learning experiences. This paper analyzes the possibilities of enacting cultural legitimacy and pride within the context of a traditional culture fair at a Finnish school for adult refugees, with 13 Afghani participants.
