How do I apply for an invitation letter for my visa application?
There are two different procedures, depending on whether or not you are giving a presentation at the conference.
If you are not, you will need a “Letter of Invitation to Attend.” All individuals needing an invitation to attend the conference must first register for the conference. Upon successful registration, individuals will be taken to a page where they can download a customizable invitation to attend.
You can register online here: http://www.aaal.org/event/2016ConferenceRegistration
For international attendees, if a visa application is denied, we will issue a full conference registration refund upon receiving proof of denial.
If you are giving a presentation, you will need a “Letter of Invitation to Present.” The acceptance emails presenters receive when their proposals are accepted should be sufficient proof for visa application purposes or for institutional requests for travel funding. However, if additional documentation is needed, requests detailing the needed format and information to include should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please allow up to five working days for processing.
All letters will be supplied in a digital format. No hard-copy letters will be mailed.
When should I apply for a letter to obtain my visa?
Letters of invitation to attend or present can be obtained via the methods outlined above.
Letters of invitation to present shall not be granted until all proposal acceptances have been determined and presenters notified.
The visa application itself can be handled through the US Embassy/Consulate closest to the attendee. Information on the visa application process can be found on the web site of the particular embassy/consulate.
