Thank you to all of you who submitted proposals by the August 15 deadline. AAAL 2009 promises to be enlightening and thought-provoking. 

Results of the proposal review will be sent to submitters in November.

The 2009 conference's plenary presentations and invited colloquia address the theme of the relevance of applied linguistics-to the real world and to other fields of scientific inquiry. Proposals addressing this theme are particularly encouraged, but proposals are welcome in all of the following topic strands:

  • Language cognition and brain research

  • Second and foreign language pedagogy
  • Second language acquisition, language acquisition, and attrition
  • Sociolinguistics
  • Text analysis (written discourse)
  • Translation and interpretation

Presenters, Please Note:

  1. It is not possible to reschedule presentations; presenters are asked to make their travel plans in accord with their assigned presentation times.
  2. A computer projector is available in every meeting room, but presenters are expected to supply their own laptop computers or arrange to borrow one from another presenter.
  3. Session Chair assignments have been emailed. Every effort has been made to schedule session chair assignments within one day of a presenter's own presentation. Session chair assignments cannot be changed.
